For Teachers

At eCounseling Connection, I specialize in treating preschoolers and kindergarteners with emotional and behavioral problems. The kiddos I serve give me so much respect for teachers - and empathy for the challenge of managing classrooms where a child or multiple children have significant behavioral problems, social anxiety, or separation anxiety. Just one child’s frequent defiant, aggressive, or anxious behaviors can impact the whole classroom. It can be a big relief for teachers and other school staff to feel confident about the expertise of the professional they recommend.

I am certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). PCIT is a highly effective form of therapy for children ages 2.5 to 7 with behavior problems. PCIT is backed by more than 30 years of research and supported by the American Academy of Pediatrics as an evidence-based treatment for this age group. Parents complete the PCIT program with their child. Behavior improvements are usually seen both at home and at school within 12-15 weeks. I also offer PCIT-CALM for treating anxiety disorders (yes - including separation anxiety!) for children ages 3 through 8-years-old. For children 7 and 8-years-old, I offer an adaptation of PCIT for older children. It is deeply rewarding to watch the difference these treatments make in childrens' lives.

I appreciate the opportunity to network with school staff to make long term differences in the lives of children, families, and classrooms across Tennessee. eCounseling Connection was founded with a commitment to increase access to PCIT through video telehealth visits in families’ homes, offering evening and Saturday appointments to meet the needs of working families, and offering a sliding scale fee for those families who need to pay out-of-pocket.

Research has found oppositional defiant behaviors tend to become more resistant to treatment as children grow older. Often, parents are unaware of how life changing it can be for a child to have access to PCIT in preschool and early elementary years when these behavior patterns are relatively quick and easy to address. Please help eCounseling Connection increase awareness of PCIT by sharing information about the effectiveness and availability of PCIT with families in your community today.
